HRA is a bilingual, peer-reviewed, open access scientific journal published monthly by Afrimvoe Medical Services since 2023. HRA focuses on high-quality research that is relevant to priority health issues and has a direct impact on clinical practice and public health, with a view to improving the health of populations in Africa. Because basic data on health research in sub-Saharan Africa is still scarce in the medical literature, HRA aims to bridge this gap. HRA covers all aspects of medicine, pharmacy, biomedical sciences and health, including public health and societal issues. It is an 'online first' publication, which means that all articles appear on the website before being included in the printed journal. Articles are published in full on the website and are freely accessible.
Acceptance of manuscripts by the editorial board is based on originality, quality of work and validity of evidence, clarity of presentation and relevance to our readers. Publications should be concise, well organised and clearly written. The manuscript submitted by the authors (or its essential substance) must not have been published in any language or format (except as an abstract) and must not have been submitted elsewhere for print or electronic publication. HRA's publication and ethics policies follow the recommendations of theInternational Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Council of Science Editors (CSE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Two years after its creation, the HRA journal, thanks to its quality, has just been granted two privileges: first, accreditation by the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education, and second, almost at the same time, inclusion in Scopus, one of the world's most prestigious scientific databases, owned by Elsevier. HRA is also the only journal in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa to have this privilege, which means that it is no longer a regional journal, but a truly international one.
