Publisher Policies for Afrimvoe Medical Services
Last Updated: [09-11-2025]
Afrimvoe Medical Services is a scholarly publishing house committed to disseminating high-quality research. The following overarching policies apply to all journals published under our imprint. Each journal may have additional, field-specific guidelines detailed on its own website.
1. Publisher-Level Editorial Policies
Afrimvoe Medical Services is committed to upholding the highest standards of editorial integrity and independence across all our publications. We delegate full academic authority to the Editor-in-Chief and editorial boards of each journal.
Our core principles are:
• Editorial Independence:
• • Editorial Independence: The publisher guarantees that the decision to accept or reject a manuscript for publication is based solely on its importance, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's scope, as determined by the journal's editors. The publisher will not interfere in editorial decisions.
• • Adherence to Standards: All Afrimvoe Medical Services journals are required to operate in accordance with the core practices and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
• • Journal Autonomy: Each journal under our imprint is responsible for establishing its own detailed editorial board structure, scope, and day-to-day management, within the framework of these publisher-level policies.
Publisher-Level Peer Review Policy
Afrimvoe Medical Services mandates that all research articles published in our journals undergo a rigorous, independent peer review process.
• • Minimum Standard: All journals must employ, at a minimum, a single-anonymized peer review model. Journals are encouraged to adopt more transparent models as appropriate for their field.
• • Process: The specific workflow is managed by each journal's editorial team, but must include an initial editorial screening followed by assessment by a minimum of two independent, expert reviewers.
• • Integrity: The publisher requires journals to have clear policies for selecting reviewers, managing conflicts of interest, and ensuring the confidentiality of the review process.
3. Publisher-Level Advertising Policy
To safeguard the editorial independence and academic integrity of all our publications, Afrimvoe Medical Services maintains a strict no-advertising policy.
• No journal published by Afrimvoe Medical Services shall accept commercial advertising, sponsored content, or paid promotional articles.
• This policy ensures a clear separation between revenue sources and editorial content, preventing any commercial influence on scholarly work.
4. Publisher-Level Research Ethics Policy
Afrimvoe Medical Services requires that all research published in its journals is conducted to the highest ethical standards.
• • Human and Animal Subjects: For any study involving human participants or animal subjects, the journal must require authors to declare compliance with internationally recognized ethical standards, including approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.
• • Misconduct: The publisher supports its journals in addressing allegations of research misconduct (such as data fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism) according to COPE guidelines. This may include investigation and communication with relevant institutions.
5. Publisher-Level Informed Consent Policy
Afrimvoe Medical Services requires its journals to enforce strict informed consent standards.
• All journals must require a statement from authors confirming that informed consent was obtained from human participants involved in the research.
• For publications containing case details, images, or other information that could identify an individual, specific and explicit consent for publication must be obtained and documented.
Publisher Policy on Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern
Afrimvoe Medical Services is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record for all its publications. We require our journals to have a transparent process for post-publication amendments.
• Corrections : Journals must publish a correction (erratum) for significant errors in a published article that do not invalidate its conclusions.
• • Retractions: Journals must retract publications where the core findings are unreliable due to misconduct or honest error, publishing a clear retraction notice that is linked to the original work.
• • Editorial Expressions of Concern: Journals may publish an Editorial Expression of Concern to alert readers to serious concerns about a published article while an investigation is ongoing.
All such actions must be conducted in line with COPE guidelines.
7. Digital Preservation & Archiving
Afrimvoe Medical Services is committed to the long-term preservation of scholarly research. To ensure permanent access to all published content, we deposit all journal articles in the CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) archival system. This guarantees that the digital scholarly record remains secure and available to the academic community for future generations.
8. Revenue Sources & Financial Model
Our publishing operations are funded through Article Processing Charges (APCs). These fees, which are only applied upon manuscript acceptance, cover the costs of the publishing process, including:
• Digital hosting and platform maintenance (OJS/PKP)
• The peer-review management system
• Copyediting, typesetting, and production
• Long-term digital preservation (CLOCKSS)
• Editorial and administrative support
We offer APC waivers or reductions for researchers from low-income countries who lack funding, ensuring that ability to pay is not a barrier to the dissemination of sound science.
